ksu excellence in action Master's Degree

KSU's Recreation, Park and Tourism Management program, together with KSU's Hospitality Management program, offer a joint Master's degree in Hospitality and Tourism Management. The MS provides an integrated graduate education and allows students to focus on regional, national, and global issues. Skills in critical analysis and research, as well as an understanding of advanced hospitality and tourism issues will be developed. Graduates will be prepared to secure positions of leadership in industry or pursue a terminal degree in Hospitality or Tourism Management.

  • A letter describing your professional and research goals.
  • An official transcript from each colleges and university attended (except Kent State University graduates).

selection criteria

All submitted materials are considered in the selection of candidates. The following criteria are used in the selection process.

Grade Point Average (GPA)
You must have an overall GPA of 3.0 or above to be accepted into the graduate program. If you do not have an overall GPA of 3.0 you may receive "conditional acceptance" into the graduate program, upon recommendation of the faculty.

Letter Describing Professional and Research Goals
This is your opportunity to tell us about yourself, your professional and research goals, and why an MS in Hospitality and Tourism Management is right for you. In addition, style, organization, and grammar are important.

Work Experience
Prior work experience in hospitality or tourism is preferred.

Letters of Recommendation
Please obtain references from faculty members and employers who will be able to assess your potential for graduate education. Personal references should be avoided.

graduate assistantship

An assistantship is an appointment made by Kent State University to full-time graduate students who display a high level of scholarship and academic excellence.
